A CASE SERIES OF CONGENITAL SYPHILS- CALL OF VIGILANCE
Congenital syphilis remains a significant public health problem, especially in low-resource settings, and this study highlights that using a multimodal diagnostic approach—combining direct detection methods like dark ground microscopy and Giemsa staining with serological tests such as RPR, TPHA, and IgM ELISA—provides reliable confirmation of infection in neonates, with IgM ELISA being particularly useful in distinguishing true congenital infection from passive maternal antibody transfer, thereby emphasizing that early and integrated testing enables prompt diagnosis and reduces the risk of severe complications.
